LAHORE, The Prime Minister of India, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, is likely to visit Pakistan during the month of February next year, it was learnt here today.
This will be the first visit of Mr. Gandhi to Pakistan after coming into power last year. He is expected to visit Islamabad by the middle of February, 1986, Mr. Rajiv will have discussions with President General Mohammad ZiaulHaq and Prime Minister Mohammad Khan Junejo on bilateral relations, regional issues and international affairs.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Zain Noorani, expressed the hope that the meetings between Mr. Rajiv Gandhi and President Mohammad ZiaulHaq would be fruitful.
When asked to comment about these meetings, Mr. Zain Noorani said that some progress was expected to be achieved. During his forthcoming visit Mr. Rajiv Gandhi would be meeting Mr. Mohammmad Khan Junejo for the first time after the later assumed the office of the Prime Minister.
