New Delhi: In a surprise move Rajiv Gandhi removed R. K. Dhawan from his key position in the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. Mr. Dhawan was one of the most trusted men of Mrs. Indira Gandhi. He had stood by the late Prime Minister through thick and thin. He had over the years acquired tremendous influence and power. Even State Chief Ministers were afraid of him. It appears that Rajiv is defending more on those personally loyal to him than the old guard stalwarts.
