JAMMU: Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Gen K V Krishna Rao (RETD) has resigned, sources at governor’s house said here Sunday.
The sources said the governor has already submitted his resignation letter to President R Venkataraman. Gen Rao had been appointed governor of the state last year, at the completion of tenure of the former governor Jagmohan.
Earlier in the day, deputy prime minister Devi Lal said the Jamu and Kashmir governor would be removed from the post “within a few days” to “expedite the normalization process” in the border state.
