Chandigarh: Who shot and seriously injured, Kala and Harmit Singh, in Ajnala subdivision on the night of November 15? While the police claim that it was a militant action, the villagers point an accusing finger at the police. The deputation of the village Panchayat met the D.C. of Amritsar on Dec. 5 and sought an enquiry into the matter. The deputation met the S.S.P. who said that militants wearing police uniforms were responsible for the shooting. The two victims’ fathers, Mr. Satwant Singh and Mr. Pal Singh have sought an enquiry by the senior officers to identify the culprits. According to the deputationists the police continued to harass people in the border areas under cover of fighting “terrorism.”
