‘The Commanding Officer Canadian Forces Base ‘Cornwall’s, Nova Scotia BOS 1HO

Dear Sir:

I have been watching with interest the progress of Pte. Ranjit Singh in our forces. My father served with the British-Indian Army in North Africa and Europe during the Second World War. I served with the Indian Army as a reserve.

Being a Sikh, my father and myself always wore a turban instead of the metal helmet, I understand the safety concern of Artillery Training Officers, but please spare your time to investigate the concept of the turban for a Sikh officer. I am sure that once you are convinced about what the turban holds for a Sikh officer, you will have no difficulty in explaining it to other officers. Sir, you are the back-bone of Pte, Ranjit Singh’s career.

I am proud to be Canadian as Canada offers all Canadians opportunities to excel in whatever profession we select. God forbid, if ever Canada has to fight a war, I can assure you sir that the Sikh community of Canada will be found in the front defending our native land Canada.

Sincerely, Jahmoban Singh.
