His father Battan Singh Gill left his village Chandra Khurd in Jullundur District in 1920 and settled himself in Fiji Islands. Piara Singh Gill was born in 1946. He started his career as maintenance welding mechanic in Fiji sugar mills.
He was active member of federation of Fiji Islands and wrote number of articles in various newspapers. In 1971 he migrated to US.A. And came straight to Stockton. For seven years he worked with Occidental Chemical and later he joined Holly Sugar factory in Tracy.
He started the radio programme in Hindi in 1978 and since then he was successfully running it. He is very social. He is also a member of the Fiji Indian Cultural Association and vice president Fiji California Soccer Association. He has been elected vice president Stockton Soccer Club.
He and his wife Kailash are happily married and are proud parents of Gurjit and Harjit.
