UNITED NATIONS: Reuter: ‘The captain of Pakistan’s National Cricket team, Imran Khan, has agreed to serve as a UNICEF Special representative for sports, the U.N. Children’s fund said on Friday.
He is the latest celebrity to become a UNICEF volunteer supporter. Others include actress Liv Ullmann, singer Harry Belafonte and Olympic Skating Champion Katarina Witt.
Khan, now on a cricket tour of Australia, will be formally appointed at a ceremony in Sydney on December 28 attended by UNICEF officials
LONDON, Reuter: England has turned down the chance to compete in the first international football federation (FIFA) five a side indoor world cup.
‘An invitation to join such teams as Brazil, Argentina, Italy and the Netherlands in the tournament next month has been declined by the football association (F.A.)
