LUDHINA, Punjab, India: The Punjab Sikh Lawyers’ Association has asked the Akal Takht Jathedar, Singh Sahib Bhai Jasbir Singh to beware of the” Centre’s efforts to trap the Sikh youth into the politics of package deal accord for appointment, of a Commission without deciding the basic issues on merit. There is nothing the Council said in the release of a new batch of Jodhpur detainees as the action has been taken by the Center because of their own being kept under detention for such a Jong time, without trial and it was a clear violation of Rajiv Longowal accord.
The Council called upon the Sikh leaders to address themselves_ to the goal of Sikh freedom. Any compromise on this goal would fail to satisfy the Sikh masses.
The Council asked the U.A.D. leadership to add three clauses to their already announced five demands i.e. acceptance of Punjab’s legitimate claims over Punjabi speaking areas now in Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan, besides Haryana immediate stoppage of S.Y.L. Canal and handing over the control of Bhakra Dam, Pong Dam and other dams.
Third demand was the immediate arrests and trials of those persons responsible for the killing of innocent young men in fake encounters.
