This program is called OP1 Immigration Visa program by which twenty thousand visas will be issued for the years 19901991. The people born in countries which did not use more than 5,000 American visas can participate in this program. There are 162 of these countries. The following countries DO NOT qualify. CHINA — mainland born and Taiwan born, COLOMBIA, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ELSALVADOR, GUYANA, HAITI, INDIA, JAMAICA, KOREA, MEXICO, PHILLIPPINES, and the UNITED KINGDOM (including natives of Anquilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Hong Kong, Monserrat, Pitcairn, St. Helena, Turks and Caicos Islands). Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Trinidad qualify for this program.

The application should be typed, in English, and must contain the applicant’s name, date and place of birth, current mailing address, the consulate office nearest applicant’s residence abroad, the name and place of birth of spouse and children. The applicant period is one month beginning March 1, 1989 through March 31, 1989. The application should also contain a photograph of the applicant and one photograph for each of applicant’s family. The photograph should be of the size 11/2 inch x 1 1/2 inch.

The mailing envelope should not be larger than 9 1/2 inches x 4 1/2 inches and not smaller than 6 inches x 3 1/2 inches. Your mailing address must also appear on the outside of the envelope. One envelope should contain only one application. If a person sends more than one application in the same envelope, that applicant will be disqualified, the applicant should be sent by Regular, First Class Mail. Certified, registered or courier service mail, for which receipt is required, will not be accepted. The computer will make random selection, the selected names will be sent to the United States Consulate Office which will inform the winners to file formal Immigrant Visa Application.

Husbands and wives can each make separate applications. If a person is selected, their spouse and unmarried children, under age of 21 will also get visa.

People who are illegally in the United States can also participate and the envelope containing your application is typed in English. Your application and the envelope will be hanled by a machine.
