Guru Har Rai the seventh Guru wasbomonJan.161930atKeerat Pur Sahib. He was grandson of 6th Guru Har Gobind Sahib son of Baba Gurditaji and Mata Nihal Kaur The Guru ship was bestowed upon him in 1644 He had two sons Ram Rai and Har Krishan (8th Gur).
Guru Har Rai traveled extensively in Malwato spread the word of Guru Nanak. Gur Har Rai and Paid special attention to the Gums langar. He gave special instructions to keep the kitchen open day and night. He said if you refuse food to a hungry visitor you cause him pain and sufferings.
Dara Shikah eldest son of Emperor Shah Jahan was dangerously ill Guru Har Rai when asked by to cure did so by giving him the medicine Guru Har Rai bore enmity to none. Later when Dara Shikah was chased by his brother Aurangzeb Guru Har Rai gave him shelter and assistance. This made Aurangzeb angry has sent for Guru. Guru Har Raisen this eldest son Ram Raito Delhi Aurangzeb asked why Guru Nanak wrote “Mitti Mussalman ki? (The clay of Muslim may find its way into the hands of a potter). Ram Rai did not want to displease the emperor and said your majesty Guru Nanak wrote “mitti Baemann ki —” that the clay of faithless person.”
Guru Har Rai was soon informed (of what his son had done gur was greatly pained to hear his son’s lack of truth and courage. He said Ram Rai is not for Guruship and he should not show his face to me”. Guru Har Rai bestowed Guruship upon his son Har Krishan and died in Oct. 6-1961. He was Guru for 17 years 5 months and 8 days.
