JALANDHAR: While rejecting the organizational structure of the Shiromani Akali Dal, as announced by the convener of the three member unity panel, Ashok Singh Bagrian, Kuldip Singh Wadala, representative of the Badal faction in the panel, said that the “unilateral announcement is not acceptable to us and we strongly disagree with it.” Surprised at the structure announced for the working committee and other committees, Wadala said that he had not been taken into confidence about this setup at all.

Besides, Bagrian had never given the impression that the organizational setup would be announced by one person. It was to be a joint announcement made after joint consultations, he said Bagrian had destroyed the confidence reposed by us in his ability to unite the Akali factions Wadala said. ‘We were under the impression that Bagrian was an enlightened “human being but it has now become clear that he has succumbed to vested interest,” he added.

Wadala said that the structure of the party working committee parliamentary board, organizational and disciplinary action committed and district jathedars announced by Bagrian were never discussed till the first week of May and no meeting was held in the last one month due to the Giddebaha by-election held on June 3.

Asked if he had discussed his reaction with the party president, Prakash ‘Singh Badal, before holding. ‘the press conference, Wadala said that as representative of the erstwhile Badal faction in the panel he was authorized to respond to Bagarian’s announcement.
