NEW DELHI: India firmly ruled out any negotiations with the United States on Super 301 as long as the threat of retaliation was there.

“An attempt is being made to take punitive action against us bilaterally … if anyone feels that it can put pressure on us bilaterally to cut our multilateral action, then this is not going to happen,” federal commerce minister Arun Nehtu told parliament Friday.

Replying to supplementary raised by members in a calling attention notice in the Lok Sabha, Nehru wondered as to how could there be a case to put India under Super 301 when the trade balance in its favor was perhaps even less than half a percent, of the 150 billion dollar trade deficit of Washington.
