Says WSO Press Release OTTAWA: In a press release WSO has expressed regret over khs not to expect justice from any Punjab crisis and called upon Sikhs just to expect justice from any Hindu regime. It exhorted them to continue their fight for freedom. The press release says that the colonial style campaign kickoff by the newly formed opposition coalition (Jan Morcha Party) in India has created a formidable challenge for Rajiv Gandhi. Yet, it is discouraging for the Sikhs that the Jan Morcha Party, in their manifesto did not even mention the Punjab crisis, but instead concentrated on more rights for States far away from Delhi. Punjab certainly is not far away hence it is probably not considered to be part of their agenda.
Jawahar Lal Nehru and Indira Gandhi succeeded in manipulating the Sikh masses for about four decades, and Rajiv Gandhi’s emergency protocol to Punjab is no different than the hereditary statement “I am willing to open talks with all political parties of Punjab and will consider shifting some of the powers to village council.” Interesting isn’t it?
Here is a Prime Minister who does not want to include the Freedom Fighters (a formidable force) in Punjab politics. Is he serious in resolving the self-determination issue of the Sikhs? Not in .our opinion. The World Sikh Organization reminds our Brothers and Sisters in Punjab that you hold the key to your destiny. Don’t let Rajiv or V.P. Singh keep you as slaves for the rest of your lives.
There is no price too dear for freedom. Those of us who enjoy it every day know its value.
