Chandigarh: Nine deserters of the Sikh regiment were sentenced to imprisonments Tanging from 3 months to two years by a Court Martial at Jammu, according to a report. The deserters were charged for an attempt to march to Amritsar after the operation Blue Star.

The Court Martial sentenced Darshan Singh and Karam Singh to 2 years rigorous imprisonment

Kabul Singh, Shamsher Singh, Hatinder Singh and Gurdey Singh to one year imprisonment. Bachittar Singh Bhupinder Singh to six months and Sukhminder Singh to three months imprisonment. Court Martial also ordered that Bachittar Singh, Bhupinder Singh and Sukhminder Singh should be retained in service after the completion of their terms.
