CHANDIGARH: The central reserve police force additional inspector General C.K Menon had a marrow escape when the group of Babbar Khalsa as claimed by the Police, ambushed a CRPF convoy in Amritsar District. Three persons including a sarpanch were gunned down while the security forces arrested’8 persons in Punjab.
Mr. Menon and the Commandant of the 48 BT who along with other senior officers were travelling along with the escort party in three jeeps when they were ambushed by the Babbar Khalsa militants at Kote Dharam Chand in Amritsar. One police official was injured in the crossfire which took place during the encounter.
However no casualty was reported.
Another group of gunmen believed to be the Red Guards of Rebiero gang killed one Kulwant Singh of Palti Ghulli village, District Jalandhar. Some other members of the same gang killed Sarpanch Jaswant Singh of Dhola village District Amritsar. They also shot dead one Shangara Singh of the same village.
It is worthy to mention that the Red Guard gang was responsible for most of the killings of the Sikhs in Punjab to discredit the militants in Punjab.
