NEW DELHI: Federal Home Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, admitted in the Rajya Sabha that there had been some infiltration in the police and administration of Jammu and Kashmir and assured that screening of staff would be done and those found indulging in “antisocial” activities would be removed from service.
Many parts of the valley were still snow bound and the government had instructed the paramilitary forces to check all types of infiltration. The Mufti said while replying to clarifications sought by members on his suo motu statement on the latest situation in the northern most Indian state.
He said that there was clear cut evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in the subversive activities, and now an Rs one million Kashmir fund had been created by Islamabad to give open support to “terrorists.”
He also told the members that the question of reviving the state assembly was being studied constitutionally with the matter now before the law ministry.
In his statement the minister said that among the steps being contemplated to help the economy of the area were increasing job opportunities for the youth, raising of a few BSF battalions, and recruitment of about 3000 teachers and sanction of Rs 25 corer for construction of school buildings.
