TORONTO: Metro rickshaw owners would need $1 million in insurance and drivers would need to carry a license, stay off the road at certain times of the day and even provide medical proof that they are able to handle the jobs under the new proposed bylaw. The draft regulations will be the subject of public meeting on Oct.19. The licensing commission began looking into the rickshaw industry in August after complaints from the public under the new bylaws, rickshaw owners also have to file their rates with the commission and display them on a fare card.
