NEW DELHI: Bye elections to Meham Ambala cantonment and Dabra Kalan assembly constituencies will be held on May 26.

The Haryana Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala who is also the son of the deputy premier, Devi Lal, is expected to contest in Meham, where the February 27 assembly elections were countermanded by the election commission on grounds of large scale violence and rigging.

Chautala has to get elected to the state assembly before June 7 by which time the six month period enabling him to continue as chief minister without being a member of the state legislature expires.
