An UNPRECEDENTED HUMAN TRAGEDY
Dear Editor,
Common people in a number of ‘Third World Countries’ are being ruthlessly crushed and tortured by their out rightly ambitious rulers. A huge mass of human beings are helpless victims in the hands of these Mafia gangs (the rulers) reeling under stark poverty which these rulers hide from the eyes of the free nations of the world through their diplomatic missions abroad and take their virtually own electronic and print media.
It is a matter of grave pity that the free nation of the world take their rhetoric at face value and some of them as Gospel’s truth. Whether these affluent nations are indifferent to the miserable plight of this huge mass of incarcerated human beings knowingly or unknowingly (probably knowingly) it is grossly immoral if not criminal, on the part of these countries, particularly when they champion the cause of Human Rights. This includes the prestigious United Nations Organization, whose primary duty is to safeguard individual human rights, this organization has totally failed in its primary role of protecting the rights of the down-trodden of the world. If the U.N.O, continues to fail in its elementary role it will meet the same fate as did the former League of Nations. This is happening despite reports by the Amnesty International on serious violations of human nights, in the press every day.
Very recent insurrection in Burma did not come about overnight. The common man in that country suffered silently for decades. They could not rise against this brute injustice for lack of opportunity or perhaps courage. We congratulate those brave people for having driven out the tyrant ruler. The pity is that any protest by these unlucky human beings is immediately dubbed as ‘anti-national’ by these tyrants to hide their own ‘antinationalism’ because they are in absolute power and can do so very conveniently.
Insurrection in Burma is one example that has come to the fore. India may be the next where conditions are much the same perhaps worse, where human rights are ruthlessly being violated. It is high time for the free nations of the world to come to the rescue of the victims of torture in India. It has reached beyond all tolerable limits and the chances of victims being restrained from rising against the tyrants, are very remote, but it is still worthwhile trying for a noble cause to avoid further bloodshed.
