NEW DELHI: THE government has warned Islamabad that if Amanullah Khan Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front carried out his threat of marching with thousands of people from Azad Kashmir and Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan to Kashmir border on February 11 with a view to entering the Valley Pakistan would be entirely responsible for the consequences.
“A highly-place source said that the JKLFs intention to escalate the situation in Kashmir to dangerous proportions and make martyrs out of its Cades. This was the handiwork of Pakistan which wanted world media to witness and record the ugly events that might take place at the Indo-Pak border in Kashmir.
According to Khan about 30000 to 40000 unarmed volunteers would attempt to cross the border.
Khan has urged the U.N. secretary to arrange things so that the Indian troops deployed on the order do not fire at the volunteers He has also written leer pike British prime minister-John Major. More importantly he has written to Western TV and print media networks to cover the event and be present in Muzaffarabad for that purpose.
Coming close on the heels of the BUPs Ekta Yatra the JKLFs plan to “peacefully” invade the Kashmir valley is also meant to embarrass the government Sources said that no security force in the world could allow such brazen intrusion to take place. However air force was used it could tarnish India’s image.
Khan has maintained that he has already scaled down the demand for Azadi in Kashmir to Kbul Mukhtori (self-determination). His stand is that the JKLFs objective is more acceptable to the people of Kashmir as against the Hizhul Mujahedeen’s demand for Kashmiris merger with Pakistan.
NAWAZS VIEW: Since the prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif has gone on record recently saying that all the parties to the Kashmir dispute would have 10 give up something and settle for Jess Khans views sound similar to those of Sharif’s.
The Union home minister S.B. Chavan ruled out the merger of Kashmir with Pakistan After the recent atrocities committed by the militants on the people of Kashmir the slogan of independence held no charm for them.
“They do not feet that there is anything like a Jinad in what the militants are doing the home minister told “The Times of India.”
Ultimately” he said “there is 2 growing realization in Kashmir that it’s” destiny lies with India. Let us give that kind of feeling our support” he added.
At the same time Chavan said the authorities would have to go seriously into the allegation by Kashmiri youths that the benefits targeted for weaker sections were not reaching them. “We will have to make the necessary correction” he remarked.
Besides there was the issue of creating jobs for the unemployed youth and launching more developmental programs he said all this would have to be gone into quickly.
Squarely blaming Pakistan for encouraging militancy in the Valley Chavan said that even Pakistan was now getting the feeling that its game-plan in Kashmir will not succeed.
“The perception given by the British home and foreign secretaries who recently visited New Delhi as well as the US administration which was speaking out openly against Pakistan will weaken Pakistan’s position Chavan observed.
Meanwhile the JKLF is reported to have described to put “Operation Mangbool ” into action against the BP “EKta Yatra” when it enters the Valley and has created a special squad to shoot dead any person trying to hoist the Tricolor on Jan.26
