NEW DELHI: The Janata Dal said it would not take cognizance of the so-called national executive meeting requisitioned by the Ajit Singh group which calls itself the real Janata Dal”.

The party spokesman Harikishore Singh told newsmen that in fact one of the 14 members whom the Ajit Singh supporters claimed to have signed the plea for convening the meeting on February Shad denied having done so.

The spokesman circulated a statement signed by Ram Lal Kureel which said”! take strong objection to such baseless statements issued by the supporters of Ajit Singh saying that Thad signed 1 requisition to reconvene the national executive”.

“The statement further said he Kureel had resigned from the national executive of the Janata Dal last year and his name was wrongly mentioned as a member of the national executive by the Ajit Singh group.

An Ajit Singh supporter and expelled M.P. Rasheed Masood expressed doubt about the authenticity of the statement of Kureel given to the Press by Harikishore Singh. “Kureel” had given us his consent and was one of the 4 members who had signed the requisition.

Masood said the February 5 meeting would certainly take place and besides expelling SR. Bommai and V.P. Singh it would adopt economic and political resolutions.

He said the earlier court case filed by the Ajit Singh group would be withdrawn as it was based on Bommai’s order and a fresh case would be filed on the basis of the resolution passed by the national executive expelling the four MP.s

“He maintained that the national executive convened by Bommai was illegal as Bommai was not the party’s president.

Masood said the Lok Sabha Speaker Shivraj Pati has sought comments from the four expelled MBPs on the national executive: resolution and their comments would be sent soon.
