NEW DELHI: The Janata Dal virtually ruled out any truck with the Akali Dal led by Mr Simranjit’ Singh Mann saying his “tone and tenor” were becoming “more strident” on the issue of nation’s unity and integrity. The party spokesman Mr.S Jaipal Reddy told newsmen that “we can’t join any party which gives an impression that it is not uncompromisingly committed to the country’s unity and integrity.

In reply to questions he said somebody claiming to speak on behalf of Mr Mann had met the Party president MrS.R.Bommai two weeks ago. There had been no talks between the Janata Dal and Akali Dal (Mann) There was no concrete proposal nor was there any discussion he added.
