HONG KONG, Sept. 27,Reuter: Jansher Khan of Pakistan scored a comprehensive 96, 92, 95 victory over Australia’s Chris Dittmar on Sunday to win the Hong Kong Squash open title and complete a hat{tick of tournament victories.
Third seeded Jansher, who beat World number one JahangirKhan92, 108, 92in semifinals, looked tired at times in the final but his ability to extract himself from seemingly impossible situations carried him through, ‘Triumphs in the Singapore, Malaysian and now the Hong Kong opens have elevated the 18yearold Jansher to number two in the World and he is How pointing for Jahangir’s top spot. “The three victories will improve my ranking from four to two and my Next objective is to reach number “one”, said Jansher, who is seeded to meet Jahangir in the final of the Pakistan masters this week.
Dittmar, who crushed World Champion Ross Norman of New Zealand 90, 90, 94 in Saturday’s other semifinal, said Jansher had played well in the final but cautioned against regarding him as invincible just b ‘cause he had won three titles in a row.
“We have not produced a legend ‘out here in the last few weeks,” said Dittmar, beaten by Jansher in last ‘week’s Singapore open final. “He will be cut down to size by a few players before long”.
He added that Jansher won his matches by frustrating rivals into errors and said that what the: current Junior of world champion lacks in fitness and finese he makes up for with Patience and tale rower.
