PARIS Reuter:. World Champion Jansher Khan buried his head in his towel and burst into tears when he was unexpectedly beaten by fellow Pakistani Jahangir Khan in the final of the French open squash championship on Sunday.

Top seed Jansher, who had beaten Jahangir in their previous eight meetings, lost 159, 1015, 15-13, and 15-15.

Jahangir played with a style and aggression which recalled his years as the dominating force in world squash.

His better strokes, volleys and drop shots maintained the pressure on his younger opponent and Jansher finally cracked in the fourth game when he made a series of unforced errors.

The final had been expected to provide 18yearold Jansher with his ninth successive triumph over Jahangir. He beat him in the final of the Spanish open last week and had seven Consecutive wins in their meetings during 1987.
