While the Indian warships belonging to the western Naval command would be led by flag officer commanding western fleet rear admiral Avinash Tandon the U.S. warships have been drawn from the seventh fleet operating under the United States Pacific Naval Command.
The naval high command here was tightlipped about the joint exercises merely saying that these were part of Indian Navy’s efforts to have better interaction with naval forces of other countries.
