NEW DELHI: The National Integration Council Dec.31 urged the ‘government to take a tough stand against active support being given from across the border to secessionists and to energize the “democratic ‘and political process” in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir.
Strongly deploring the support given in terms of training, weaponry, financial assistance and seeking to internationalize the issues, the council resolved, to meet any challenge from such “antinational” forces to the unity and integrity of the county.
It also understand that in this “difficult situation” efforts must be made to evolve “national consensus to deal with the challenge posed by the proxy war inflicted on India”.

‘The accent in the daylong council meeting was mainly on separatism dealing with support to it from across the border, maintaining the secular fiber of the country and initiating political process in the two trouble torn border states.
‘The meeting was often marked by sharp exchanges between BJP leaders and those of other political parties on differing perception on Article 370 and the purpose of the Ekta Yatra.
