JAMMU: After investigating six more cases through a human rights cell (HRC) the Jammu and Kashmir Government has concluded that alleged human rights abuses by security forces were “incorrect and motivated.” over the last eight months allegations of human right abuses have been published in the local press, that spurred, the government to investigate through a HRC of Jammu and Kashmir police on fortnightly basis to know the truth of these reports. Releasing the investigations of these cases for first fort night of the Current month, a spokesman of the government said that the investigations have revealed that the allegation of custodial death of three militants, Shafi Ahmed Ganaie, Mohd Akbar Lone and Ghulam Nabi Butt of Sopore, was. False. ‘The investigation found that on September 29, security forces in an operation at Tarzoo arrested Farooq Ahmed Mir, a militant, and on his disclosure raided a hideout.
‘The militants heavily fired on security forces which the latter returned. In the encounter, three militants including a battalion commander were killed and arms and ammunition, a wireless set and some incriminating documents were seized.
Reflecting the allegation of custodial death of the ‘military advisor’ of Ikhwan E Muslimeen Abdul Majid Dar, the spokesman said that he was killed in an encounter in Padshahi Bagh, Srinagar ‘on Oct. 4 and another militant was arrested. One AK rifle and one grenade were recovered.
In another case, the investigation revealed that the “Amire E Zila’ of Jamat Islami, Mohd Ismail Butt was killed in another encounter where a person was apprehended and another injured on October 5.
Giving details, the spokesman said the security forces during a search operation at Chaki Dangar Porain Srinagar; Mohd Ismail had hurled grenades on the security forces while trying to escape.
Mohd Ismail was instrumental in sending Kashmiri youths to Pakistan for training, the spokesman said, adding even when security forces cordoned his hideout, he ‘was motivating some youth to go across for training.
‘The investigation of another allegation of killing of two persons of Pattan in custody, the spokesman said that, on October 7, in a ‘search operation, two Paktrained militants Mohd Ashraf Khandey alias Tiger and Ghulam Hassan Teli alias Saleem, were killed in an encounter. Three other militants were apprehended.
