NEW DELHI (PTI): Members in the lower house of Parliament condemned the reported U.S pressure on India for space research and appealed to third world countries to unite against Washington’s “Hege monistic designs”
At the seventy five minute unscheduled discussion on the issue during zero hour members cautioned the government that the matter was not confined to space research alone and had much wider ramifications.
Cutting across party lines members saw a clear link in Washington’s pressure on Russia and India’s refusal to sign the nuclear nonproliferation treaty.
They said it was time that India told the U.S categorically that it would not tolerate any interference in its defence security and development matters.
George Fernandes Janata Dal who raised the issue Former Prime Minister Chandra Shekar Atal Behari Vajpayee L-K. Advani (Bharatiya Janata Party) Inderjit Gupta (CPI) and (Congress (I) expressed grave concern at the US. attitude and asked the government to apprise the house on its stand of these matters.
