His original name was Bura, later called ‘Buddha’ (the Awakened one). He breathed his last in A.D. 1631. (14 Maghar, 1688 BK) at Ramdas, Amritsar). October 24 Khalsa Dal attacked Anup Shehar (Uttar Pradesh) and made the British Commander Mr. Stuart prisoner in A.D. 1781. October 25 (a) Bhai Dhanna Singh Behbalpun, a Babbar Akali revolutionary, died fighting with the police in A.D. 1923, (b) Dewali celebrations at Amritsar to welcome Sn Gum Hargobind Sahib, who after being released from the Fort of Gwalior and successfully prevailing upon Jahangir to set at liberty the Rajas of Shivalik states in the Punjab, reached there. Later on, a custom got established and every year a big congregation began to be held on this day. Bhai Mani Singh was martyred by Zakariya Khan, the Mughal Governor of Punjab, because he foiled the attempt of the Mughal Governor of Punjab, because he foiled the attempt of the Mughals to kill the Sikhs who were to gather on Diwali day (A.D. 1737). October 26 Fourth centenary of the Foundation of the city of Sa Amritsar was celebrated (A.D. 1977). October 27 (a) Birthday of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur (A.D. 1670). He was born in a Rajput family in Kashmir. His given name was Lakshman Dev. He met Guru Gobind Singh at Nanded who transformed him and Seth in in the tradition of the Khalsa. After receiving Pahul from Guru Gobind Singh his name was changed to Baba banda Singh. After Guru Gobind Singh’s departure from this world, Banda Singh assumed the leadership of Sikhs and fought many battles against the Moghals and won victory of Sirhand. His continuing battles against the Moghals led to the gradual decline of Mughal Empire which in half a century, completely disintegrated. (b) Sardar Darshan Singh Pheruman, after an historic fast of 70 days for getting Chandigarh for Punjab, died in A.D. 1969.
