We appreciate the World Sikh News (WSN) action to publish the letter of Singh Sahib Prof. Manjit Singh Ji Jathedar along with the response prepared by the Chair- man of Sikh Foundation of Virginia (SFV), For the benefit of WSN readers we would like to take this opportunity to present relevant background and additional information concerning Prof, Manjit Singh’s letter.
SFV management holds Sri Akal Takhat Sahib in high esteem.
SFV. Management has always been of the opinion that the good offices of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib should not be brought it into the local management conflicts. However, in spite of our actions to Keep Sri Akal Takhat Sahib out of the local management conflicts, Prof. Manjit Singh Ji got involved. Ina letter (dated 11/6/93) Jathedar Ji requested Gaini Kuldeep Singh fi (SEV Head Priest) to resolve the conflict; a copy of that letter is attached, In that letter, Jathedar Ji categorically indicated that the focal issues should be resolved at the local level and within the limits of the local laws.
In our earlier communication with Jathedard Ji, we informed him that efforts to resolve this management conflict are being sought by the local community in Virginia.
We request WSN management to publish this letter along with its attainment in the upcoming issue.
