BOMBAY: The Hindujas, the London based Indian industrialists are to promote a global newspaper to be published simultaneously from Bombay, Hong Kong, New York and London as well as launch a satellite television channel.
Initial investment in these projects will be to the tune of 10 million dollar, according to Srichand Hinduja, who heads the Hindaoja group of companies,
Bombay has been chosen as a publication center for the newspaper so that the edition can be own to west Asia the same day. Similarly, the Hong Kong edition will cater to the entire far cast, New York’s to North America, while London’s will take care of Europe. He said talks were on with Several major media houses abroad for bringing in the technology that compares with or exceeds world Standards, but refused to identify any media house,
On the satellite television channel, Hinduja said, they have already applied to the department of space for leas¢ of a transponder on in sat (Indian Satellite) 2B This ambitious projects backed by not just the Hindujas, it is a worldwide coming together of the Sindhi Diaspora under the ‘Indusind concept’ aimed at attracting foreign investment to India.
Once on stream, the channel would be hooked on to Satellites in other regions for which negotiations has already started, The satellite TV channels would be operated as pay channel abroad and even if 10% of the Sindh is subscribed, it would be a profitable, Hinduja said.
