NEW DELHI, India: Election to the 90 member Haryana Assembly will be held on June 17 according to an announcement of the Chief Election Commissioner. The decision to hold the election on June 17 was taken at a meeting held here between Chief Election Commissioner and senior officers of Haryana government. The Haryana government was represented by the Chief Secretary and the Joint Secretary, etc. The term of the present Assembly expires on June 23rd. The new Assembly will be installed on June 24th. After the meeting, Mr. Shastri told newsmen that the notification for the election to the Haryana Assembly will be issue on May 18. The last day for filing nominations will be May 25. The scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on May 26. The last day for withdrawal will be May 28 and polling will take place on June 17.
Mr. Shastri said that by-elections to two seats of the Parliament from Haryana will also be held simultaneously on June 17. The vacancy in Rohtak constituency has been caused by the resignation of Hardwari Lal and in the Bhawani constituency by the resignation of Bansi Lal.
