Police said Salam Rajen Singh, the self styled Commander in chief of the outlawed People’s Liberation Army (PLA), died in a shootout in the strategic state of Manipur

They said Salam Rajen had recently slipped back across the Manipur border from Burma where PLA guerrillas fighting for independence in Manipur have jungle sanctuaries.
