DEAR EDITOR:
The biased news provided by the government of India, the media owned by the majority community or the brainwashed Sikhs is being reproduced in the Canadian media in the original form. The blind use of phrases like “Sikh terrorists” in the foreign media is contrary to the professional ethnics that are normally observed by the free press in reporting events. It is particularly painful as the foreign reporters are barred from entering the Punjab and thus are incapable of sifting truth from the fiction.
The notorious activities of the Indian KGB are directed to discredit Sikhs all over the world and to throw dust in the eyes of the world community. How come Tiger Elams of Sri Lankan are called freedom fighters or militants simply because they belong to the majority community, while Sikh freedom fighters who scrupulously avoid hurting the innocent, and are branded as “terrorists?” It is curious that the constitution of India does not even recognize Sikhs as Sikhs and they have been lumped together with Hindus (Article 25 of the constitution), but for the purpose of defaming them, the government of India calls them “Sikh terrorists” and not “Hindu terrorists.” If there is any terrorism in Punjab, it is just the state terrorism let loose on the innocent population of the area for the sake of electoral politics and to preserve the corrupt power.
