it is very important to understand Guru Granth Sahib In short Guru Granth Sahib is wholly written in VERSES These Verses are spoken by the Guru Holy men and Saints inspired by GOD HIM: SELF These Hymns are arranged in Guru Granth Sahib according to 41 Ravas ( classical musical notes or measures). All the Hymns in Guru Granth Sahib are spoken by seven Gurus and 19 Saints the Saints are from the different easter and professions such as Brahman Muslim weaver cobbler tailor butcher domes chanters and a blind man. The Hymns in Guru Granth Sahib are not applicable to Sikhs only but it is for the WHOLE HUMANITY and speaks of ONLY ONE GOD. Here is the importance of Hymns of Guru Nanak written by Macauliffe in his book that” Daulat Khan the Muslim Ruler on hearing « Hymn fell at Guru Nanaks feet. The people admitted that GOD was speaking through Nanak’s mouth.” (Page 41 Vol 1) For the Sikhs Guru Granth Sahib is the visible body of the Guru and the Hymns entered in Guru Granth Sahib has come from God and spoken through the mouth of Gurus and Saints The hymns are only to be sung with the musical instrument to obtain the PEACE OF MIND.
The other religious rules and instructions as of what a Sikh might or might not do have been written in the other books called relit Nama. So Guru Granth Sahib is not be quoted for petty things.
