LONDON, Reuter: Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has warned the United States that it would never be able to score a victory over Libya on Libyan soil In a speech broadcasted by Libyan radio and monitored by the British Broadcast Corporation. Gaddafi said, “Libya would be turned into a Hell in the event of an US. In vision and Libyans would fight from house to house and trench to trench”,

He said Libya would ignore the US,, unless it attacked Libyan territory, in which case America should be certain that we will fight it and it will never win

The United States, which carried out punitive air raids against Libya last April, says it believes Libya still backs international terrorism, a charge Tripoli denies, and will strike again if a new terrorist link is proved.

To maintain pressure, the US has stationed the aircraft carrier for restal off the Libyan coast and sent new F-111 fighters to Britain from where they carried out the April bombing raid against Libyan targets.
