AMRITSAR, India: Four persons were gunned down and district police arrested 13 freedom fighters during the last 24 hours, according to Mr. Azhar Mohammad Alam, S.S.P., Amritsar. Quite a sensation was caused in a thickly populated area of Majitha road, Amritsar when two gunmen killed one Arun Kumar, a medical student and Prem Kumar, a shopkeeper of Avtarnagar at 11:00 a.m. The assailants raised Khalistan slogans before fleeing.
In another incident Constable Mohinder Singh of Joint Interrogation Centre, Amritsar, was shot dead last night in Dadra village under Ajnala police station by unknown assailants. The police believe it to be a case of personal enmity.
A freedom fighter was killed by the C.R.P.F. in a fake encounter at village Sohal under P.S. Jhabhal, according to the news agency report.
