NEW DELHI: The former Union Minister, Mr, Kalpnath Rai, was remanded to judicial custody till February 26 by a designated Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act court. Mr, Rai was earlier picked up by the CBI for allegedly harboring six members of the Dawood Ibrahim gang.
The BJP Member of Parliament, Mr, Brijbhushan Saran Singh, against whom nonsalable warrants had been issued by a designated TADA court last week, for helping some members of the Dawood Ibrahim gang, surrendered before a Gonda court. He was remanded to judicial custody and sent to Gonda jail.
Mr, Kalpnath Rai’s personal secretary, Mr, S.P. Rai was also produced in Court and was remanded to judicial custody for the same period of time by the Additional Sessions Judge, Mr. S.N. Dhingra. Mr.S.P. Rai and been picked up by the Central Bureau of Investigation and remanded to custody.
The Count, served notice to the East West Airline company to be represented, also issued a bail able warrant of Rs 10,000 against the Managing Director of East West Travel and Trade for not being present. The warrant was later withdrawn when Mr. Peer Mohammed, director of the company presented himself before the Court.
Apart from Mr, Brjbhusban Saran Singh and his personal secretary, all the other 11 accused, seven in custody and two on bail, were present in Court.
