LUCKNOW: The tables have finally been turned against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttar Pradesh. The party which zealously claimed that it was free of criminals and on desirable elements has been rocked by its first major source of embarrassment when former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav of the Samajwadi Janata Party released on Friday a list of 22 criminals in the BJP. The first list which will be followed by more according to Yadav includes the names of two ministers one a high-profile one one MP and seven MLAs.
The two ministers are Brahm Dutt Dwivedi the Revenue Minister who is playing the key role in all the moves made by the State Government in Ayodhya and Suresh Kumar Khanna the Urban Development Minister Yadav has alleged that Dwivedi with the “connivance” of his brother Om Dutt Dwiveei and his nephew Sudhanshu Dutt Dwivedi has been implicated under sections 302 and 147 148 149 and 201.
The cases have been registered in the Rajepur police station of Farukkhabad district from where Dwivedi hails The main charge is the illegal confiscation of properties.
The other minister Khanna has been criminally charged under sections 147 148 149 and 317/ 302 for instigating the murder of two Muslims in 1986.
Prakash Narayan Tripathi the MP from Banda is embroiled in 21 criminal cases under sections 302 307 504 506 147 148 149 107 and 116.
The MLAs included in this list of “honor” are Om Prakash Passi from Gorakhpur with 19 cases pending against him and having been arrested once under the Goonda Act twice under the Arms Act and once under MISA Ram Sevak Singh from Binawar (Badaun) with 26 cases Govind Kumar Singh from Shahjahanpur with two cases of looting and forcible seizure of properties Pret Ram from Shahjahanpur with three cases of Intimidation to kill; Basantlal Gupta from Lucknow who allegedly attempted to confiscate the Avadh Sarkari Bank in Aminabad.
