COLOMBO—SRILANKA MARCH 17, REUTER: Sri Lankan soldiers ambushed a band of Tamil Rebels killing eight and wounding other after villagers tipped them off military source said on Thursday. One soldier died in the gun battle.
Villagers at Karichahulam in Tamil Rebels district spotted an armed group of some 15 men about to enter their area on Wednesday and alerted soldiers.
