AMRITSAR, Punjab, India: Some unknown gunmen killed eight persons, including a farmer and his family at their farm house about 20 miles from here. Later the gunmen put the house on fire, before fleeing. This small village is situated in P.S. Jandiala, in the subdivision Baba Bakala. The assailants raided the house at 7:30 p.m. and opened fire. (The police later claimed that the gunmen belonged to Sant Bhindran wale Tiger Force). According to another report, dead persons also included Kundan Singh, his wife Parkash Kaur, daughter Sukhwinder Kaur and daughter in law Inderjit Kaur. The other two victims were identified as his son Baldev Singh and one relative Balwinder Singh. According to the police, the family was said to have close relations with a militant belonging to Babbar Khalsa.
