BOMBAY: For the first time a desalination prototype facility— multistage flash (MSF) unit— with 425 cubic meter per day of fresh water capacity has been designed, fabricated, installed and com: missioned at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) here.
The MSF has been designed to convert sea water into fresh water with overall purity of 30 PPM (parts per million) total dissolved solids (TDS), according to Dr M F S Ramani, head, desalination division of BARC.
