Berkeley: The Sikh Students Association at U.C. Berkeley would like to request for the kind assistance of the Sikh Community in the fundraising drive for Punjabi Studies at the U.C Berkeley cam pus. It is unprecedented; this is the first time a large institution in the West Coast has offered a program to allow Punjabi language classes and Punjab History classes in their semestral schedule of courses, In particular classes will be offered in the following areas of interest: Punjabi language, Punjabi literature, Sikh history and the Gurbani Without your support this project cannot succeed. This project will continue for at least two years, and the estimated cost of the project is $85,000, Classes will start in the fall semester of 1993; hence, funds are needed as soon as possible. The Sikh Stu dents Association at U.C Berkeley also hopes to have the classes offered in the summer sessions. This will benefit many young Sikh children growing up in America who will have a chance to learn their language and history, our community must support this project. With your support classes will offered. Contributions to this program are fully tax deductible. Checks should be made out to UC Regents Panjabi Studies and mailed to Dr.Steven M.Poulos, vicechairman Genter for South Asta Studies, University of California at Berkeley, CA 94720. It is our hope and desire that this project may succeed with The Grace of God.
