CLLEVELAND: The birthday of the tenth prophet of the Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh Ji was celebrated here on January 25, 1987 in the local Sikh Temple. A big congregation was held on the occasion and the Ragi Jathas of Middleburg Heights led by Dr. Surinder Singh Chauhan and Jigjit Singh Komal of Kot Kapura (Punjab) recited Shabads from the hymns of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. S. Harbans Singh Sandhu gave an informative talk on the life and teachings of the tenth Guru. Sardar Darshan Singh Khalsa from Punjab stressed the need for unity among the Sikhs.
On this occasion Sardar Satnam Singh Bhugra of Lansing Community College, Lansing appraised the Sangat of Cleveland about the efforts being done by the Sikh Studies Association for establishing a Sikh Studies Program at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He appealed to the Sikh Masses to contribute liberally towards the fund established at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor for the purpose, so that the Sikh Studies Program could be started at the earliest.
