ISLAMABAD: Fourteen persons were injured in armed clashes with police in Latifabad in Pakistan’s Sind province as angry mobs took to the streets protesting against the deteriorating law and order situation, reports here Friday said.
The agitated protesters burnt tyres and pelted stones on vehicular traffic. The residents have been complaining against the growing incidents of thefts and robberies in the town.
Meanwhile, police nabbed over 100 persons in Jhang which has been rocked by incidents of violence following the murder of a religious scholar, Maulana Jhangwai, last week.
A protest meeting was held Friday at Jama Masjid to condemn the killing. The army had to be called out in the Punjab town after ethnic violence erupted and spread to other parts of Jhang:
