CHANDIGARH: The induction of Buta Singh into the Union Cabinet has come virtually as a setback to the Punjab Chic Minister, Beant Singh.
It was apparently to torpedo his induction that the Disciplinary Action Committee of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee had initiated the move to proceed against the dissidents including Buta Singh, last week. The move has, however, backfired. The DAC, had decided to serve show cause notices on the dissidents including Buta Singh and five MLAs. for violating the party discipline. The move originated on the eve of the elevation of Buta Singh to the Union Cabincl. What triggered the move was an indication from Delhi about the likely induction of Beant Singh’s adversary
Bean Singh, in an informal chat with media persons here, said that the decision to serve show cause notice was taken by the DAC and he had nothing to do with it. Beant Singh is also the PPCC president.
