NAGPUR: The RSS seems to be contemplating 2 change in its political strategy. The behaviour of the National Front government has prompted the RSS to reconsider the sagacity of supporting a government which it feels is out to appease the minorities.
The RSS chief, Mr Bala Saheb Deoras in a hard hitting speech on Saturday said that even though the previous governments had been supporting the minorities, this had never been at the cost of the Hindus. The V.P. Singh government had ignored the interests of the Hindus in order to please the Muslims, he alleged.
“It is therefore essential for all likeminded people to think seriously as to whether our political future should be entrusted to choose who entertain and encourage paratism for political gains, “Mr Deoras observed. This is a clear signal to all’ the frontal organisations of the RSS that the time has come to change their political strategy.
There have been several incidents which have antagonised the RSS against Mr Singh. The refusal the government to allow the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad volunteers to hoist the national flag at. Srinagar has incensed RSS leaders, “The government has demonstrated weakness and obstructed ABVP activists from getting to Srinagar. This is bound to escalate the activity of the militants,” Mr Deoras observed.
BJP STRENGTH: The new political strategy of the RSS would depend basically on the strength of the BJP Political observers do not rule out the possibility of the RSS. Changing its track and indirectly supporting the Congress on the lines of the 1984 elections. There is a feeling gaining ground among the RSS leaders that as compared to the National Front government the Congress was more positive in its approach to matters relating to the Hindus.
The RSS cadres are not likely to forget that it was during the Congress government that the foundation stone of the Ram Temple was laid at Ayodhya While the Shah Bano case is cited as an instance of the support of the Congress for the Muslims but unlike the anti ABVP stand of the NF government to placate the Muslims.
