NEW DELHI: India’s north esteems Meghalaya state was Friday placed under president’s (federal) rule in the wake of political crisis with the supporters of chief minister B B Lyngdoh and speaker P R Kyndiah voting each other out. President Ramaswami Venkataraman issued the proclamation under Article 356 of the constitution.
The state assembly has been kept ‘under suspended animation. The step was taken after the state governor Madhukar Dighey sent report on the political situation in the state.
