NEW DELHI: Are the concepts of rebirth. Astrology, meditation, soul entering another’s body hypnotism, tantra mantra and telepathy true or are these merely blind beliefs beguiling men?
If true, have time and study manifested their authenticity. And if not should any person, organization or institute be allowed to promote them.
According to M C Bhandari, chairman of the occult foundation, all occult subjects have a “scientific basis” and once scientists comprehend this. They will also pursue it.
Some aspects, he said have already been proved scientifically. The latest being the “aura” a colored light around each person. The presence of this light, earlier visible to only some who gained the power through meditation, Can now be photographed by special cameras, he said.
According to Bhandari, the color of Aura varies from person to person, signifying his or her nature as well as future and only 15-20 people in India can see the Aura with their naked eye. Photography has proved that this Aura actually exists.
In The Soviet Union telepathy has been proved scientifically through experiments.
Asked if an organization like the occult foundation, formed in 1980, would not just promote superstition in a country already infested’ by mysticism, he said the foundation was trying to show through research that what most think is superstitious is based on scientific reasoning and also reveals what is mere superstition.
The foundation, in which about 100 people are involved, is carrying out research in astrology by collecting horoscopes of the Ahmedabad air crash victims and of professionals to verify whether their lives confirm astrological norms,
The foundation in funded through donations and sale of books written by those involved.
Bhandari says the only thing which has not yet been proved to have a scientific basis is rebirth.
In Japan, for the last 10 years, career guidance is being done by astrological calculations, he says.
In India, the age-old practice of getting married through matching horoscopes exists even today not just in villages but also among the literate urbanites,
While scientific reason has always dismissed the supernatural, mystical and mysterious as what can only harm the human reason and mind, according to Bhandari this could “help making warn of health and bad times”.
He says evidence of scientists showing interest in occult sciences already exists.
Dr Ramakanth in Bombay and Dr S Rajendran of Madras use meditation to cure neurological problems, he says.
Bhandari feels that the future of occult sciences is “great” in India and “this knowledge should be exported to other countries.”
He believes there is a scientific basis to all this but for many who believe in them, the occult subjects even transcend reason and comprehension.
