CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Chief Minister, Mr. Harcharan Singh Brar has allocated the portfolios to the members of his council of ministers while retaining a number of important ones, including Home, Irrigation ‘and Power and Industries.

The Chief Minister also keeps with himself the Excise and Taxation, Vigilance, General Administration, Personnel, Administrative Reforms, Information and Public Relations, Science and Technology, Environment and other departments hot specifically attached with other ministers.

The list of portfolios was released last week. Among the cabinet ministers, Mr. Brahm Mohindra has been given Health and Family Welfare which assumes significance in view of ongoing controversy About setting up of Punjab Health Systems Corporation, Mr. Mohindra is known to have good equation with the POMS. Association which incidentally suspended its agitation last week.

Mr, Maninderjit Singh Bitta, who ‘was a minister without portfolio, has been given Jails and Justico and Legal and Singh Bhullar gets Revenue and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Kewal Krishan retains Finance, Planning, Program Implementation, Institutional Finance and Banking and loses Local Government, Mr, Dilbagh Singh is Agriculture and Cooperates Minister, Mr. Te Prakash, son Of late Chic Minister Beant Singh, retains Transport, Mr, Sajjan Kumar Jakhar retains Food and Civil Supplies, Mrs. Rajinder Kaur Bhattal gets Higher Education, Languages, Welfare of Freedom Fighters and Mrs. Surjit Kaur Kalkat, Social Security, Development of Women and Children, Technical Education and Industrial Training. Mr. Mohinder Singh is minister for School Education.

Among the minister of states, Mr, Avtar Singh Henry gets independent Charge of Housing and Urban Development. He also gets Excise und Taxation. Mr. Brij Bhupinder Singh has been given independent charge of Rural Development and Panchyatand is also given Home Affairs and Vigifance, Mr. Jasjit Singh Randhawa gets Public Health (independent) and Cooperation.
